British sea power-The Decline of British Sea Power 日本訪問 (講解專輯概念)

以下是該團在第一張專輯推出時受訪所回答的問題，本人大概的描述一下團員對那些問題的解答!

1. “英國海力量樂團”團名來源?

主唱Yan表示該團名以自己國家大英帝國為出發點，希望自己國家能夠在新的世代對世界有新的影響力，對於過去自己國家殖民統治和武力爭服已經結束，期望這世界以新的觀點來看待這新的英國。

2. 對於第一張專輯 The Decline of British Sea Power，整個專輯的構想是怎麼完成的?

主唱Yan表示他們想要創造一個類似油畫畫家J.W.Turner畫作內的景象，畫家想要呈現一種讓人看了就覺得真的令人身歷其境，而我們創作這張專輯就類似這樣的概念，裡面包含了憂鬱、悲傷、緊張、放鬆、快樂。

3. 關於專輯封面上所寫的兩句話"We ourselves may be loved only for a brief time... Even so, that will suffice... There is a land for the living and there is a land for the dead" 是想要給聆聽者你們的理念嗎?

那兩句話是從書中擷取出來的，我們相信生命體往生後會通往另一個地方，我們會像靈魂一樣住在書中、墓碑中、變成音樂或是化學物質。

4. 該團創作是否從詩詞中得到靈感? 有關於歌曲的旋律靈感來源?

我們歌詞創作來源來自大地跟團員們的回憶，歌曲旋律方面隨時的會出現，可能走在鄉村間或是購物時，也有可會出現在游泳或洗碗的時候。

5. 對於專輯裡面十首歌，主唱Yan簡短的描述每首歌的意義。(以下這些話擷取Yan所敘述的原文)

Lately - An Epic story of a soldier's thoughts and sights in world war 2.
A Wooden Horse - The musical version of the Trojan Horse.

6. 有關於"Carrion"這首歌裡面有堤到的Scapa Flow?

Scapa Flow是位於接近蘇格蘭頂端的地方，在世界大戰時戰艦摧毀了那個地方，那個地方由於西非洋流帶上此地，所以這地方海域水溫比較溫暖很適合潛水和賞鳥。

7. 主唱Yan曾經旅遊環繞英國島，在這段旅程獲得哪些寶貴經驗?

我們看到了cuckoo和 Manx shearwater這兩種以前曾為看過的鳥類。

8. 有哪些書或電影可以代表英國海力量樂團?

將George Orwell、 Jaroslav Hasek 和Bill Odie三個作家結合在一起就是了。

兄弟檔樂團

在英搖界中兄弟檔樂團有好幾組，這些兄弟檔樂團每對都有自己的風格，自己本身知道的大概就是下面這幾組。BSP我想我不用多說了，這兩個兄弟已經怪到極點了，雖兩兄弟長相跟聲音很不一樣，老哥聲音沙啞眼神兇悍老弟歌聲清秀眼神柔和，兩兄弟跟那些美聲或是大師級的樂團比起或許不出色，不過兩兄弟一彈一唱或是互相交換樂器，不時為彼此互相合音，配合起來很有獨特的風格。

Jesus and Mary Chain- William和Jim Reid 兄弟



Jesus and Mary Chain也是經典中的經典，兩兄弟也是很怪簡直孤僻到極點，光看他們爆炸的棉花頭跟戴著那黑色墨鏡就夠indie了! 曲子中有滿滿的噪音跟截然不同的旋律，他們的噪音名曲upside down對indie界的影響相當巨大，這對冷酷兄弟的神話至今都還在延續中。

Oasis在台灣算是最知名的indie團，兩兄弟感情也是好到令人敬佩，不過因為他們講話實在太嗆又搞笑，跟他們在台上專業的演出很難聯想在一起，他們創造了許多有名的曲子，不受外界影響專於製作自己想要的曲子，強硬的自我態度使他們受到很多樂迷的喜愛。



Glasvegas-Jim和Rab表兄弟

Glasvegas是來自蘇格蘭的indie團，主唱有種既悲傷又爽朗的唱腔，而且很鄉土味的口音(蘇格蘭鄉土)，這對表兄弟寫歌也是跟Oasis一樣牽涉到很多社會議題，且曲風有噪音和壯闊的吉他音，這對新世代兄弟樂團將繼續表達他們對這世界的想法。

The National樂團是由兩對兄弟跟一位主唱所組成，他們的歌曲不像上面那幾位這麼噪音或大器，他們的曲子就像是在說故事一樣平靜，跟BSP一樣不時在曲子裡融入後搖風的段落，獨特的鼓和吉他編曲，有時來個兩對兄弟大合音，對我這個喜愛簡潔有力又帶有複雜心情曲子的人來講，The National或許太沉悶。

British Sea Power - Carrion

“Carrion”這首歌是該團第一次打入英國單曲排行前四十名的曲子，歌詞沒有固定的章法，但是大概可以了解Yan想要表達他所看到的美麗海景而聯想到許多人文的事情，聽著曲子可以連想到站在海邊觀浪的人看著那起伏的海浪，想著這一代小鎮或是村莊所發生跟海有關的故事，想著大海吞噬了多少生命。或許觀浪人也想起自己所發生的回憶而對著這片大海無力的述說自己。這曲子歌詞樂團一直都沒有完整的公佈，不過英國那邊的BSP歌迷們也盡力的寫下大概的句子，來聽聽這首令人印象深刻的歌曲吧!!

2003年專輯The Decline of British Sea Power

英搖一直都是最喜愛的搖滾樂風格，打從出生聽過的英搖舉凡Blur、Oasis、Radiohead、Joy division、Bloc party、Kent、Travis、Franz Ferdinand…..等等。隨著時間越來越多新興後輩出現，將傳統英搖融合各種搖管類型，慢慢的出現更多新的聲音更多風格，很多英搖團或是類英搖團注重整體效果，產生許多悅耳而細膩的聲音。也有很多團注入電子混音而產生很多新鮮的曲子，或是融合後搖與英搖產生更多變化的概念專輯。在這多元化音樂的年代，可能因為融合過頭而產生太類似的聲音，原本的indie團都快變成流行團了，2003年時偶然的在音樂節目聽到British sea power這個英國團，當時被他們那種爽快而不拘小節且相當有個性的聲音所吸引，節目播放著他們成名曲remember me，光是聽過一遍那旋律永遠記在我腦裡。這些團員就好像一支軍隊(激昂)、一群漁夫(隨性)、一群豪爽的青年(自信)，隨手拿起樂器就開始演奏著他們心裡想表達什麼，充滿活力且充滿自信!! The Decline of British Sea Power是這群新生代衝擊英搖界新的開始，或許他們跟前輩的音樂太類似但是詮釋的方式絕對很獨特，絕對是耳目一新的聲音!!

英國海力量後援會

來自英國布萊頓的四位大男孩，在2001演唱成團名曲"remember me"，這首"remember me"是樂團成軍以來在加入英國名唱片公司Rough trade record的第一首單曲(2003年發行)!，後來此曲收入在月團第一張專輯The Decline of British Sea Power中。加入Rough trade record後多編制了一位鍵盤手，使這首張專輯更添增許多風采!

英國海力量這團最令人欣賞的地方就是在於它爽快的吉他音與激昂的演唱!曲中不斷的重複remember me有如團名像海浪一樣不斷的湧入聆聽者的腦袋聽完後旋律迴盪在腦中無法被抹滅。
